Pierre-Yves Gomez
Career and Major Works
Pierre Yves Gomez : Master of research in economics, Master in finance, PhD in management, Doctoral Supervisor. Dr. Gomez is Professor of Strategy at EM Lyon. From 1998 to 2000, he was a guest professor and researcher at the London Business School.
Known for his work dealing with the Theory of the Firm, he is one of the first scholars in France who has contributed to the research stream concerning conventions as they apply to the field of management.
He is the author of the following works: “Qualité et Théorie des Conventions” (1994), "Le gouvernement de l'entreprise" (1996). "La République des actionnaires: le gouvernement des entreprises entre démocratie et démagogie" (2001), and recently appearing in the United States "The leap to globalization" (with Harry Korine of the London Business School). He was the co-ordinator of “Confiance enterprise et société” (1995, English translation 1996), and has written dozens of articles for academic journals. His current research is focused on international developments in the area of corporate governance and on the links between strategy and corporate governance. He was voted one of the “Economists of the Year” in 1996 by the French publication “Nouvel Economiste”.
His mission in the French Corporate Governance Institute
Through his research and his publications, Professor Gomez calls for increased democratization in the firm and an increased corporate governance consciousness in Europe. His work has attracted the attention of the academic community and the general public since the publication in 2001 of “La République des Actionnaires”. As the head of a network of specialists dealing with these issues, and as the supervisor of doctoral theses in the area of corporate governance, Dr. Gomez strives to make the French Corporate Governance Institute stand out as an institution where new ideas can be discussed and debated, and where the main actors in the area of corporate governance can come together to reflect upon the future of corporate governance in a European context.
