Dans ce dialogue, nous explorons la possibilité de combler des approches différentes pour contribuer au domaine de l’institutionnalisme organisationnel. Les deux approches qui ont reçu une attention considérable comprennent le point de vue des logiques institutionnelles et le pragmatisme français. Bien que les deux présentent de nouvelles opportunités de recherche, nous considérons brièvement les implications du traitement de l’action par les promoteurs de pragmatisme français pour analyser l’importance des règles institutionnalisées dans les organisations. Notre bref aperçu donne le ton pour une conversation plus constructive entre chercheurs, qui est illustrée dans les différentes contributions à ce dialogue qui tiennent compte des points de croisement et des conséquences de ces travaux pour le domaine de l’institutionnalisme organisationnel.

Summary

In this dialogue, we explore the potential of bridging different approaches for furthering the field of organizational institutionalism. The two particular approaches that have received considerable attention include the institutional logics perspective and French pragmatism. While both present new opportunities, we briefly consider the implications of the treatment of action by proponents of French pragmatism for analyzing the importance of institutionalized rules in organizations. Our brief overview sets the tone for a more constructive conversation among scholars, which is exemplified in the various contributions to this dialogue that consider points of cross-fertilization and the consequences of such work for the field of organizational institutionalism.
